My journey with movement began long before Akira Pilates was born. As a young girl, I was a competitive swimmer. Sport taught me discipline, resilience, and the deep connection between strength and grace.
I've tried it all - from marathons to triathlons, long-distance cycling to endurance hikes - and somewhere along the way, I became hooked on Pilates for years. Movement is no longer just about pushing limits for me, it's about strength, balance, control, and a deeper connection with my body.
Over the years, life brought its own challenges - including a personal battle with illness that transformed the way I viewed health. Surviving and rebuilding my strength became not just a goal, but a way of life.
For me, fitness is not about appearance - it is about vitality, longevity, and inner power.
After decades of living and working abroad and building a career in leadership and risk management, I felt a strong pull toward something more purposeful. Movement had always grounded me. Pilates, in particular, resonated deeply - its precision, mindfulness, and intelligent approach to strength felt aligned with who I am.
Akira Pilates was born from a desire to create a space where people feel stronger - physically, mentally, and emotionally. A space that is not intimidating, but empowering. A studio rooted in integrity, science-based training, and personal attention.
As a founder and teacher, my mission is simple:
To help individuals build resilient bodies, maintain mobility as they age, and develop a deeper awareness of their own strength. I believe movement is medicine. I believe discipline creates freedom. And I believe it is never too late to become stronger than you were yesterday.
Akira Pilates is not just a studio. It is a commitment - to health, to excellence, and to lifelong learning.
